Is it safe to travel to Cancun, Mexico, for a destination wedding?

Yes, it is safe to travel to Cancun for a destination wedding. We have been to Hyatt Ziva twice and explored Cancun extensively, including using Uber for transportation, and we felt completely safe. As long as you avoid engaging in any illegal or shady activities, Cancun is a secure destination, especially around the resort areas. We recommend staying at the resort to fully enjoy the amenities and beautiful surroundings.

What is the best way to travel to the destination?

The most convenient way to travel to Cancun is by flying into Cancún International Airport (CUN). Direct flights are available from most major cities. From the airport, it’s about a 25-minute drive to Hyatt Ziva Cancun. You can arrange private transfers, or you can take a taxi, shuttle, or Uber (there's no Lyft in Cancun). I don’t have a passport, how and where can I apply?

We encourage everyone, especially those without a passport, to apply as early as possible. The waiting and processing time is now long, and the travel date doesn't influence the expedited process at this time. You can visit the travel.state.gov website for full information on the passport application or renewal process and fees. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html

Should we get a travel agent to arrange for our room accomodation and air travel?

This is entirely up to you. We are not using a travel agent for our destination wedding. If you feel comfortable handling your own travel arrangements, that's perfectly fine. However, please note that we have secured a room block with special rates at Hyatt Ziva. Booking through this block ensures you get the best rates. A travel agent can help streamline the process, especially with coordinating flights and transportation, but be aware they usually charge a fee. It's worth considering if you want extra support or prefer to handle everything yourself.

What transportation is available at the resort if I want to explore the city?

Since the wedding and accommodations are at Hyatt Ziva Cancun, no transportation is needed within the resort. However, if you want to go somewhere, plenty of taxis and Uber rideshares are available in the area.
